Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) has successfully commissioned the 220-kV Bannu Grid Station and 220-kV double circuit Daudkhel-Bannu transmission line with a cost of Rs 1227 million to meet the load growth and overcome the low voltage problem in the area.

According to a press release issued by Wapda here on Friday, the 220-kV Bannu Grid Station comprising two power transformers of 160 MVA, 220/132-kV has been accomplished on turnkey basis at a cost of Rs 480 million. A 110-km long double circuit transmission line has also been constructed on turnkey basis with a cost of Rs 747 million to feed Bannu Grid Station from Daudkhel.

With the completion of this mega project, Wapda network has now been facilitated for dispersal of power from Chashma Nuclear Power Plant and 500-kV Peshawar Grid Station to 220-kV Bannu Grid Station.

The project would help meet load requirement and improvement of voltage profile in the area.
